Marriage

We rejoice in the celebration of your wedding and we here at St Vincent Ferrer pray for God's blessing on you and your spouse. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

To contact our program for wedding preparation please contact Ernie & Myrna Audal 707-648-2547

You must contact a priest at least 6 months in advance of any wedding. No plans for reception are to be made until this is accomplished. We will do everything possible to accommodate your plans. Ideally with the situation of banquet halls it is advisable to contact the Church One year in advance.

Canon Law of the Catholic Church.
Canon 1056 The essential properties of marriage are unity and indissolubility, which in Christian marriage obtain a special firmness in the virtue of the Sacrament.
Canon 1055.1 The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a Sacrament.

CCC 1602

Sacred Scripture begins with the creation of man and woman in the image and likeness of God and concludes with a vision of "the wedding feast of the Lamb."  Scripture speaks throughout of marriage and its "mystery" its institution and the meaning God has given it, its origin and its end, its various realizations throughout the history of salvation .
Marriage is a communion vitae (communion of life and love) between one man and one woman and is permanent.
"For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and cling to his wife and the two shall become one flesh."
"What God has joined, no man must divide."
